"So... I heard you like someone." Percy said, while Nico and he were walking along the shoreline of Camp Half-Blood.
"You heard wrong." Nico stated as his eyes darted around, seeking escape.
"Yeah... okay, that's why your eyes are widened in alarm? C'mon, tell me, we're friends." Percy pestered, trying to get the son of Hades to look at him. Nico tried to find a distraction, trying to stop the completely oblivious male next to him from getting him to confess. Sadly, there was nothing. Nico started thinking if he should just run, the Hades cabin isn't that far, but wouldn't that raise suspicion...?
While the son of Hades was having a conversation with himself, Percy stared at him, contemplating whether to splash him with water until he says who it is or just drop the subject. He then realized why Nico is so nervous and remembered what Piper told him. Percy sighed, trying to find the correct words to say.
"Look... Nico... I don't know how to say this... but... Annabeth is kinda with me, and, I don't think she-"
"What?" Nico paused as he silently stared at the Percy, eyes filled with amusement and terror. "No, it's not Annabeth, I never liked her nor will I ever- look, I..." He paused briefly, sighing, "I like..." He took another short pause, staring at the ground. "I like this guy..."
...What...? Percy's mind fell blank at Nico's words. He, he's... gay? Wow. Percy would've never guessed. He was always distant and aloof, Percy just thought the kid hated everyone, not that he was scared of what other people would think of him. Nico was born in the 40's, right? It would be completely unthinkable admitting something like that, so it makes sense why he always was by himself.
"Really? All I get is a pathetic 'oh'? Listen, just because I'm gay doesn't mean that I'm any different, so don't you dare go and treat me any differently or tell anyone." Nico growled, glaring at him.
"Hehe, sorry, I don't really know what to say to that... "Percy paused, "...congrats?" Percy said, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. The black eyed teen stared at him for a second before giving a grunt as a response.
"I-I'm going to go. I have to... clean my cabin, inspection day." Nico muttered, jogging to his cabin, his Stygian sword unsheathed.
"Wait!" Percy hollered, running to catch up to him. Nico was almost in his cabin when Percy caught up.
"You never told me who you-" Nico slammed the door in his face before he could finish.
